The Bachelorette

I know this is stupid but I totally got sucked in to the Bachelorette this season just because I saw her get dumped by Brad a couple of seasons ago on the Bachelor and I had just gotten done watching the latest season of the Bachelor and this one came on the next week so I had already set aside time to watch T.V. at that time...and...uh that's all I can think of. I'm a loser OK???? ANYWAY...I just have to give a big shout out to the guy she chose becuase he is from one of my MOST favorite towns in all of Colorado, Breckenridge. I absolutely love Breckenridge for some reason. It's just this little small ski town kind of like Jackson Hole, WY if you have ever been there and we go there to celebrate for all kind of special occasions because we just love it so much!! Here is Jesse in all his glory...

Now I will share a couple of trips that I have pictures from Breckenridge...

Here we are in our hotel room in Breckenridge for my 23rd birthday a few years ago (yes, I said a few years ago OK). I had never even heard of Breckenridge. I had just moved to Colorado, we were just barely married 3 months and Scot came to my work around 1 or 2 in the afternoon and was like "clock out, let's go." I was like "I can't just leave, I have to stay here until 5:00" but he just kept pushing it, finally my boss came in to the room and was like "why don't you just go ahead and go." and they all started laughing. My sweet husband had already called her and set it up so that I could leave early and we could spend my birthday weekend in Breckenridge. It was a blast!

I loved Breckendridge so much the first time that we ended up going there again to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary. Here we are at the place we stayed...

Here is our view from our room. Beautiful huh?

Here is where we stayed...

And here we are with the cute little town in the background...

So that is a little bit about why I love Breckenridge and why I had to give a shout out to good ol' snowboardin' Jesse!!!

Happy 4th of July

...a little late, but still here none the less...

We had a great 4th of July and it was our first camping trip of the Summer. We headed up to Woodland Park, CO on Thursday after work and stayed through Saturday evening. Scot's parents and his sister Jennifer and her family were there as well. We had a few rainy moments but that's Colorado for you. For the most part the weather was really great if you were outside in the shade. Trying to go in our tents to take naps...that was another story. WAY TOO HOT!!!!

On Friday we went in to town and walked around this little fair that they have where you can ride an old fashioned fire truck...(I'm definitely not out to win a fashion or beauty show when we camp so don't judge Okay?)

And a horse and buggy...The horses name was Mouse. We thought that was pretty funny for such a LARGE horse.
There were also lots of little booths to walk through and a pond to walk around and even a little parade. It was a good small town time!

For the fireworks that night we headed up to the local high school and staked out a great place to set up and watch the fireworks. They really put on a great little show!
The rest of the weekend consisted of relaxing, a bike ride to the lake that nearly killed me (I really need to get my booty back to the gym), walking around the lake, going to the movies, catching up on my magazine reading and the most important part of all EATING!

We really do love this country and feel so lucky to live in a place where we are blessed with so many freedoms, especially our freedom of religion. We are so grateful for the gospel in our lives and for the knowledge, peace and comfort that it brings to us. We truly are lucky and we love the 4th of July to reflect on our many blessings and freedoms! We hope you all had a great 4th as well!

Happy Birthday Mama

Today is my mom's birthday, I won't disclose her age in fear of a hardy beating but I will say Happy Birthday to my mom! I am so glad we got through all of that toddler and teenage stuff so we can be such close friends now.

Over the years my mom has become my best friend, a confidant and a wonderful person to get advice from. I can laugh with her and be myself with her and she still loves me! I am so happy to have her in my life, now if I can only find a way to get her and my dad closer to Colorado!!! Love you and miss you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mom!!!

Scot and Jenny Simpson?

Have you ever wondered what you would look like if you suddenly became an actor and got cast as one of the Simpson's? Well we did and this is what we would look like... Do you likey?

Here is my studly husband...Baby baby...

Here I am...If only I were a cartoon and could erase the things I don't like...sigh...

Disclaimer: *I hate the Simpsons, I think it is a foul show and I am just not a big fan but I thought this was funny. If you want to do it youself you can just go to http://simpsonizeme.com/#

Star Struck

So I have been meaning to blog this for a while but I kept forgetting. I totally saw someone famous right here in Colorado Springs the other day while driving to work. Ok now brace yourselves...this is a good one. I saw Bobby Brown of Bobby Brown Bail Bonds driving next to me on I25...

OK OK, so there are probably only a select few that even know who this is and most of you are probably like is she insane? But I thought it was cool. Let me break it down for you...He is sometimes on a little show called Dog the Bounty Hunter which is on A&E.
Dog grew up in the Denver area and so sometimes comes over from Hawaii which is where he lives now to help out Bobby Brown who has a Bail Bonds company here in the Springs. FYI, I in no way support Dog and some of his recent scandals but I do enjoy the show from time to time, it's so weird and they are so cocky and ridiculous. So that is my awesome star sighting...be impressed, be very impressed...

Week of Ups and Downs...

Some of you may have heard that my alergies got the best of me and I had to give my perfect puppy back to his original owners. The night we got him I started to get watery eyes and a headache but I didn't really think much of it. I was so happy to have him and fell in love with him instantly. The next day was a little worse and I ended up breaking out in hives. By the 3rd night my right eye was almost swollen shut and I had hives all over my neck. I had no idea I would have a pet allergy like that. However I have never had a dog so I woudln't have known. I have been around dogs with no problem but I think it was being around him so much and picking him up and cuddling him next to my face that did it. It's hard to tell in the pictures really because of the glare on my glasses and my hair is in the way but I was pretty miserable. I basically had a headache from the moment we got him and as much as I didn't want to admit it I knew what I had to do. So I talked to Scot and we decided to call the lady who we bought him from to see if we could bring him back. She was very understanding and said that we could. She said that they will probably keep him because he was one of their favorites from the beginning so it makes me happy to know that he wil have a good home and will be happy. He was such a good puppy though so it was really hard for us to give him back. We are pretty devestated but unfortunately sometimes things don't work out the way we want them to!! Scot asked me how we could fall for something we barely knew and honestly I had no idea that it could happen either. It seems so silly but even after our short few days with him he just warmed a place in our hearts and we are really going to miss our Ry-Guy...

Welcome Home Riley!!

We have a new addition to our family and his name is Riley! He is a pure bred beagle. I know in previous posts I have talked about wanting a dog and Scot finally caved. He is very sweet but a little sad right now since he misses his mom and brothers and sisters but we think he is going to be a great addition to our little family! I have to get to work but there will be more updates to come. For now here are some photos. They aren't very good because he is just too busy to be bothered with pictures!!

Our Weekend...

It is SOOOOOOO time to update. It's been forever. Our lives just haven't been all that eventful , but things are starting to pick up again...so here we go...

On Friday afternoon we set out to drive to Idaho to go to Scot's cousin Jonathon's wedding in Rexburg. It was so nice of my in laws to let us drive over with them. The trip over went really smoothly until we got over the Jackson Pass and in to Idaho. It was almost midnight and we had just changed drivers in Pinedale so Scot was driving and I was on deer watch. We were in between the towns of Driggs and Victor, ID and it had gotten pretty quiet in the car because we were all exhausted. I was trying SO hard to stay awake and do my job as deer watcher but I finally subconsciously gave in to my eye lids and closed them. Just as I drifted off I heard Scot yell "MOOSE!" My eyes flew open and all I saw was the brown, hairy torso of a moose running in front of our car. Scot slammed on the brakes and swerved to the side and just as the moose crossed to the other side of the road a car going in the other direction hit the moose square on. We heard the impact and pulled off to the side. We all just kind of looked at each other like "did that really just happen?" and then we all opened our car doors and got out. Scot and my father in law ran up the road to the car that hit the moose and my mother in law started walking up the road as well. I turned around to see what was around me and all I saw was BLACK and I thought "OH NO, I'm outta here." So I turned off the car, locked the doors and ran up beside my mother in law. The details of what we saw aren't important nor are they appetizing but it did have an enormous impact on me and how close Heavenly Father truly is. How he protects us and loves us. It reminded me that I need to keep him close and in my life at all times and to always go to him for protection and guidance. We are so happy to say that the people in the other car are going to be OK. The passenger was hurt pretty badly but the EMT said that he would be OK. It could have been a lot worse and we are glad that it wasn't. We wish only good things for them and hope they are able to continue with their lives as normal. We were all very blessed that night. After this experience my advice to anyone reading this is to not drive long distances at night. We have been doing that a lot lately going back and forth to weddings and we are so glad that we have been able to attend these events but we think from now on we will drive as far as we can in the daylight and then stay somewhere over night and then drive the rest of the way the next day. It may take longer but it is so much safer!!!

On to happier things...On Saturday morning we went to Jonathan's wedding at the Rexburg Temple. It was a beautiful ceremony and the weather was perfect...

Here are the happy newlyweds...

Scot and me at the temple with Rexburg in the background...ahh we miss this place!

After the wedding we had a little bit of time before the luncheon so Scot and I decided to walk down to campus to go to the bookstore. We made a little stop in the gardens...oo la la...
(You can barely see us on Patsy's porch swing.) The stinkin' bookstore wasn't open so we walked through the library for old times sake and then walked down to Porters my favorite craft store EVER. It was just like old times. We decided it's no wonder we were skinny when we lived there because we walked everywhere. Now that we sit at desks all day and eat snacks and we're too tired to do anything when we get home that's all gone to pot!!

The reception was in Bethany's beautiful backyard garden. When we got there we did a little bit of exploring and my cute sister in law Katie caught a frog in their little pond. Scot didn't think she would do it but he was impressed when she caught the little bugger...Rock on lady!
Got him!
Congratulations you guys!

Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Last night Scot and I went to dinner at Olive Garden before going to the movies. So we are sitting there having an enjoyable dinner with good conversation and we both treated ourselves to a large refreshing Coke since we had been so good and hadn't had one all week. BOTH of our drinks had gotten down to about the 1/3 mark when our waitress comes by, looks directly at Scot and says "would you like another coke?" Scot says "sure" and she walks away. Meanwhile I am sitting there examining both of our cups and sure enough they are in nearly the EXACT same place. Why must this continue to happen? So of course after she walks away Scot just thinks this is hilarious because this happens almost every time we go out to dinner. But finally he is like "I will grab her when she comes by." I'm like "No it's not that I need or even want one yet, I just don't get why she didn't ask me. It's weird, that's all." So he's says to me "Well drink it down a little more and then she will." I told him "I will, I will." So he then he proceeds to grab my cup and start drinking it. She started to walk up behind him and I kept saying "she's coming, she's coming." but of course he got caught putting it back on my side of the table and she stopped and looked at Scot and said "Does she need another drink?" So I said "Yes I would." Is it so hard to talk to ME? I was so confused. So that's our Olive Garden story. Good food, strange little waitress.

Next we went to the brand new movie theatre right by our house. We are so excited to have this theatre so close. We are thinking that once they finish some paths and roads in the area we can start walking to the theatre on warm days which will be fun. Anyway, we saw Prince Caspian and we really liked it. We definitely recommend it if you liked the first one!
