Political Asperations for Jenny

I (Scot) was looking on line at our New Presidential Cadidates and their Poll Standings when I came accross Jenny's long lost twin. Seriously it's the funniest thing I have seen in a while. Hillary for President, and Jenny for Bally's Spokes Girl. Woohoo

OK let me explain...I somehow lost my Bally's membership card in the last 8 months or so that we haven't gone to the gym, go figure. I don't know maybe my subconscious lost it on purpose so I wouldn't have to go, at any rate I have looked and looked but to no avail. So now that we have started going back because we decided that we didn't want to donate $50/mo to Bally's anymore I had to buck up and pay the $10 to get a replacement. When I went in on Monday morning the girl told me that she would give me one week to find my card but I told her I had been looking for 6 months and haven't been able to find it so I had better just buy a new one. I didn't have my wallet with me at the time so I told her I would do it the next day. So on Tuesday afternoon when we went to the gym I purchased my replacement card. I figured that my picture was still in their system and they would just print me out a new one with the same picture from before so I was just standing there hanging out resting my head on my hand when suddenly the girl was like "OK Jennifer, smile." I looked over and this weird camera deal was in my face. For some reason I thought I took my hand down but apparently I was only thinking "Hey I should probably remove my hand out from under my chin" but I never did so here is the end result:
So now everytime I go to check in I am embarassed because they see this weird glamour shot pose and they probably think that I think I am all that and a bag of Doritos but reality I am just dense. Scot will never let me live it down either, in the mornings when he says goodbye to me he puts his hand under his chin and says "I'll see you at the gym."

Leatherheads...Leatherdon't

Scot and I went and saw Leatherheads this afternoon and I thought it was crap. I hated it. It was so slow and so boring. Scot thought it was tolerable but I just didn't. Definitely not one I would buy. There were some rare funny scenes and it was a pretty clean flick but it was definitely one we should have waited for the RedBox to get. LUCKILY we had a gift card that we used so it wasn't a total wash. Anyway if anyone still decides to go see it you will either love it or hate it. The people next to us left about 45 minutes in so that tells you something, PLUS it just came out last weekend and it was already playing in one of the small room theatres today so it must not be generating a whole lot of revenue in the Colorado Springs area. For all those football fans out there it might be fairly entertaining but my personal recommendation would be to wait until it comes out on DVD so you can rent it and decide then if it is one to buy!!!

We're Flying!

This weekend Scot and his dad were finally able to go indoor skydiving together. It's been so busy that this was really the first weekend that they were able to do it. They had such a great time. For those of you who don't know basically you jump in to this big old wind tunnel and fly around in there for two minutes. It's a blast! On a side note: if you ever do this please where shoes that you can tie on tightly to your feet because there was a group of old ladies in the group ahead of Scot and his dad and as soon as one of them jumped in her show flew off and went straight to the top so they had to stop the fan and I swear it took like 52 seconds for it to come back down. it was kind of sad but really really funny!!

After SkyVenture we all headed over to Jennifer and Christian's house to celebrate sweet Ainsley's second birthday with cake, ice cream and presents, what more could a kid want?

Maltipoo Cuteness

OK, so you can not tell me that this isn't the cutest puppy in the entire world. On Friday night Scot and I stopped at the mall by our house to pick something up and we can't go there without looking at the pet store. Normally we don't see anything too spectacular just a bunch of dogs with poo everywhere stuffed in to little cages but this time was an exception. I have completely fallen in love with Maltipoos. They are the cutest thing I have ever seen and I must have one. I am really working on Scot so we will see what happens. The lady at the pet store says they only get about 4-5 lbs. PERFECT! Jessica Simpson has one so I mean how hard can they be to take care of really? Ha!

Molar Moments

OK so I just had to brag about Scot. He made our dentist's newsletter that went out to all the patients for referring so many patients to their office. We have a great dentist and we love to spread the word about him. All of the girls in the office suprised him at work with balloons and a gift card to the restaurant Marigolds. I am so proud. You go on with your bad self! Love you!

Our Weekend in a nut shell...

We just got home from a very long weekend in Rexburg and I figured I better hurry up and blog it all now before I forget all of the things that happened!

On Friday afternoon at about 12pm we set out on yet another journey across Wyoming for a wedding. Well actually they were already married but we couldn't be there so went up to Rexburg for their reception. All was well. The weather was wonderful and cooperating and we were having great conversations in the car. It's amazing the things you come up to talk about when traveling through Wyoming. Anywho...we pulled in to Rexburg around 11:30pm, met up with my parents and then headed off to bed.

On Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast at Frontier Pies with my uncle, cousin and parents. If any of you have ever been to Rexburg you know all about Frontier Pies. It's not the best food in the world but let's face it you are in Rexburg so you take what you can get, but all in all it's a good place, with good people and country atmosphere. So we are all chatting and laughing and having a good old time when none other than Glenn Beck from CNN comes waltzing through and sits at the table next to us with his ontorage (sp?).

OK so Scot and I so are not inconspicuous as we proceed to tell everyone that Glenn Beck from CNN is sitting at the table next to us. I mean really who gets excited about some radio talk show host who is now on CNN? We do!!! Who would have ever thought that Glenn Beck would be in Rexburg at Frontier Pies? That's some good stuff!!

After breakfast my mom and I insisted on hitting some of our favorite Rexburg hot spots. We always have to go to the bookstore to get some memorobilia then we had to go to Porters, our favorite craft store. They always have such great things that I have never seen before. Love that! Once we had shopped we absolutely had to go up to the temple. We so wanted to be there for the open house but just never made it. Rexburg also holds a special place in my mom's heart because she grew up in the area.

Rexburg has changed so much in the last three years since I was there. It's insane! The cold NEVER changes but they have a beautiful temple for one, a Walgreens, an Applebee's, 2 Subways, a new steakhouse (which is really gross by the way), and a ton of strip malls. It's just crazy!

After doing all of that running around we went out to Lewisville to visit more family and go to lunch at Chuck-a-rama. It's a big buffet out in Idaho Falls. Such a classic. Next we ran back to Rexburg to go to dinner with Scot's friend Randy, his wife Jessica and their cute daughter Aiden. We went to the aforementioned steakhouse which was rather disappointing for everyone involved but we had a great time catching up and laughing about old times. After dinner we all headed over to the open house of Scot's friend Jared. Jared and his new wife Jenni were married in the Oakland Temple last week. We weren't able to be there so we were so happy that we were able to go to their open house and see them. They are so happy and such a cute couple!

After the open house we stopped by Browlims to get some fry sauce. We always mean to do that but we always forget! We also forgot about how insane the grocery store can be on a Saturday night in Rexburg. Holy college kids Batman. They were everywhere!! Scot and I were talking about it on the way up and we were talking about how much fun it would be to live there again because it's a place that holds such a special place in our hearts but after about 2 hours of being there we decided it would not be so pleasant. Fun to visit no fun to live!

We started to head back to home after breakfast on Sunday morning. Again all was well, converstaion was good, roads were OK, just a couple of questionable areas like the ones pictured below at the top of the Teton Pass before driving in to Jackson Hole...

What?

Well after getting down off of that all was well again and we were on our merry little way. So we get to Rock Springs and one of those big old electronic signs says I-80 closed at Rawlins. The roads were just wet at this point so we thought that they would probably open it back up before we got there. So we were calling the Wyoming Roads Report number and it kept saying closed. Well sure enough as we pulled in to Rawlins and the further away from town we drove the less and less people we were seeing on the road until finally we drove up to the turning around point to go back to Rawlins. We couldn't believe it!!! So we turned around and got back on the freeway back toward Rawlins. We decided to go and walk around Alco (It's a Kmart type store) and use the bathroom and just kill some time before heading back down the highway. Well we were in Alco about 15 minutes and then came out and it was snowing like the dickens. So we went across the street to fill up the car and then we were going to go back down and wait at the gate with everyone else and watch a movie and freeze our hinies off until the road opened. Well as we thought about it and as the snow was falling we decided it might be a good idea to see if we could reserve a room JUST IN CASE we needed it. So we go ahold of my WONDERFUL sister in law Jennifer who helped us out with getting phone numbers, and road reports and she even booked our room for us on line which we did end up needing! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! So we went back down to the gate because at this point we are still holding out hope that we might be able to get home but when Scot talked to the cop that was at the gate and told him where we were heading he told us to head back to town and get a room before they were all taken. So we went back to town and there were trucks and cars that had slid off the road and that's when we really decided to just give up and go check in to our room and stay warm!!! You know it's funny, we always talked about how cool it would be to get snowed in. You always picture it as some warm and comfy cabin up in the mountains, with a fire and big shaggy rugs and plush couches but OF COURSE when it happens to us we are stuck in Rawlins, WY where there's an Alco, McDonalds and Pizza Hut. Great. How romantic. Well just to end my story they opened I-80 about 8:30 this morning and we were on our way.
We rolled in about 1:30 this afternoon and freshened up and headed in to work since we were supposed to be there today. I lasted a couple hours, just long enough to catch up my work and then I was out. Poor Scot is still there but we are so so happy to be home. All in all it was a fun weekend and so nice to see my mom and dad. We miss you guys already!!

Utah Our Friend..

We were in Utah again this weekend for another wedding! It has been so much fun to have the opportunity to go to so many weddings lately. It's so much fun to see family and friends even if it is only for a short time.

My place of employment doesn't exactly like to offer their employees a whole lot of vacation time so we left as soon as I got off work on Friday and headed out to Salt Lake. We only stopped a couple of times once while getting pulled over by the one cop in the entire town of Rock Springs, WY (we didn't get a ticket just some friendly directions to a bathroom) and another time to eat at a shady looking McDonalds. Oh ya and don't worry the GINORMOUS rabbit that lives between Rock Springs and Evanston is still alive because of the awesome driving skills of my husband.

So we got to Salt Lake about 2:30AM on Saturday morning and went straight to bed. We were so exhausted. We got up the next morning and visited with family and then went to get ready for Dirk and Heidi's wedding (Scot's uncle). So we are ready to walk out the door and Scot is looking for his shoes to wear with his suit and low and behold he only has these:

So we had to make a mad dash for Shopco to get him some church shoes. We made it to the temple in plenty of time for the wedding luckily. The wedding was beautiful and we were so happy we were able to be there. So after a full day of celebrating we got up early at 6am on Sunday morning and got to get in the car to drive all the way back to Colorado less than 48 hours later. Woo hoo. Fun with the Ripstik

For Christmas this year I bought Scot a Ripstik. He hasn't had much opportunity to try it out except for in the house on my kitchen floor (ahhhh) so today since it has been so nice he went out to try it out before going to scouts. I went out to snap a few pictures but the wind picked up and I decided to go back inside. He stayed out there for a little bit longer until he ate it and decided he was over it for the day. Lookin' good!

Here is what the ripstik looks like in case you have never seen one. They are actually pretty cool. It is supposed to be the same kind of feeling as a snowboard I guess, because it swivels and moves much differently than a regular skateboard. I can't seem to keep my balance on the thing without holding on to Scot's arms and him running along with me!
