After waiting and waiting and waiting we finally closed on our house today! We are now officially the proud owners of our very own home and we couldn't be more happy. We are so excited to finally own something and the best part is that we don't even have to move! If you ever have the opportunity to purchase a home you are renting we highly recommend it. It pretty much takes the stress out of buying a home and then having to move all of your junk in and unpacking. Basically now we just get to do all the fun stuff we have been planning. We want to paint and put down new floors and buy some new furniture that we were putting off buying since we weren't sure if we would be downsizing or moving far far away, etc. Having said that we need your opinion. We went out and bought a sampling of the flooring we want to use in the downstairs part of the house and I am having a hard time deciding if I really am in love with it or if we need to go darker or lighter or whatever...here are some pictures. Let us know what you think. Be HONEST!

Here is where the problem lies. I really like the above picture in the natural lighting because the contrast is good but below is what it looks like when the lights are on and I feel like there is too much continuity and I don't so much LOVE that. Please talk some sense in to me so my husband doesn't go crazy with my obsessive compulsiveness. (P.S. I just noticed an orb in the picture above, great we just bought a haunted house.)

Dad and I are so happy for you. This is a great house and we know you will enjoy your time here together. If we are ever blessed with gandchildren, this will be a nice place to begin their lives. Now on to the task at hand... I like the lighter floor better.
See that's what is funny about the pictures is that it is the same floor just in different lighting. It is growing on us though. So do you think it is a good color? Or do you think we need to choose one that is darker or lighter?
I like this blog thing. It is fun to be involved with you. See I can even put my two cents in about your floor. I like the picture with the natural light, but when you turn the light on, it's not my favorite. I think that if you look at a lighter color you might not have such a big change in color with the lights on. Just my opinion though!
It's a pretty haunted house anyway! Before I read the whole thing, I liked the darker color better than the other, then I realized they were two floors in different lighting - so I recommend trying some other options and seeing what they look like. Maybe in the end, this will be what you pick, but at least you'll have an idea of what your options are. Do the pictures truly reflect what it looks like to the naked eye?
Congratulations BTW! It feels wonderful to own! So I take it you two will be in the Springs for awhile.
Congrat's on being homeowners! Hopefully we will be able to follow in your footsteps some day soon.
Sorry, I am horrible with colors...so I have no input on the flooring. Good luck with that!
Yay, that is so exciting what a pretty house. I really do like the color of the flooring, but my opnion would be to stain the cabinets a little darker my sister did that and it looked really good it would be easy since you wouldnt have to go to much darker, thers my 2 cents..take it or leave it..
Yahoo!! Congrats!! You guys are awesome, and we think you were really smart to buy one you were renting!! You guys are great!
Congratulations! Woo-hoo! I'm so excited for you guys! And I can't believe the difference in color between the lights being off and on. I'm with Daisy . . . try some more options before you make a final decision. It would be awful to go to all the work and expense and then decide you don't like the color!
I didn't even know you were going through the buying process... YAY! that's so exciting! i like the lighter wood.

Congrats on buying a house. That is awesome, your house looks really big too so that is nice, we are going to have to upgrade with ours with another kid I think. So I take it you want be moving to Provo anytime too soon, kind of sad for me but that's awesome you have your house. And it sounds like you both like Colorado, which I hear is great.
I'm not sure about the flooring, I do like it in the natural light as well but not so much lights on. I think that no matter what you will have the cutest house ever because you have great taste and style.

p.s. I don't think the floor in there is bad right now. I'm just lazy though
You should do a video tour of your house.
