Grocery Bag Holder

So...I really wish I had taken a picture of the one we had before because it was the most HIDEOUS thing you have ever seen but I was so excited to throw it away that I didn't even think about it. A while back I was in desperate need of one of those plastic bag holder dealios and I was on a msision to find a cute one. Well that just wasn't possible...there were just none to be found. Finally one day while strolling through Wal Mart I did find one...a hideous one but I had found one. VICTORY! So I picked it up...it had a hole in the side of it but whatever...I found one. So I bought it and we used it for a good year and every time I opened the pantry door and saw that hideous eye sore I cringed. Depressing I tell you. It was made of this really scratchy burlapesque type material and it had random cats and pumpkins on it and the words "felines and friends" all over it. BARF! Anyway fast forward to a yearish later while blog surfing some of my favorite sites I found THIS really cute tutorial and decided to try it out on Friday night. It didn't take too much time and I was able to make it with some fabric that I already had :) and voila a MUCH better plastic bag holder that is way more pleasing to the eye. Try it out!

Erin Comes to Colorado!

A while back one of my best friends came to visit us for a quick weekend here in Colorado! Erin and I lived together during our freshman year. She's the best! We have such a great time when we are together. We love to laugh and do things that only we think is funny! Ha!

While she was here the weather unfortunately wasn't GREAT so we didn't get to do all of the things that we would have liked but we still had a great time together catching up!

One of the first things we did was go to Garden of the Gods OF COURSE. Everyone that comes to Colorado Springs has to go to Garden of the Gods. It is a beautiful place and is really neat to take people to.

We also took her indoor skydiving in Denver which was a blast too. Here we are in our gear afterward. HOTTIES!

On the last day she was here it was snowing like CRAZY, we wanted to take her up the Cog Railway to Pikes Peak but that just wasn't an option so we decided to go see "17 Again". It was such a cute movie! I highly recommend. It was really funny and lighthearted. Good stuff. Here we are with all our grub at the movies! Yummo!

Thanks for coming Erin! We had a great time having you here! EMAY ME!

My Very Own Edward Cullen...

OK ladies, don't be jealous but I have my very own Edward living me with, he sparkles and everything...

...It's pretty much awesome. The other night Scot, or should I say Scotward?...came home from a guys night, I was sitting at the kitchen table sewing (duh) and he came through the door very gracefully while holding his shirt open, his head was tilted down and his eyes were looking up at me (kind of like the above picture, creepy) and said "you need to see me for what I really am" and as he said it he thrust his bear chest out very dramatically at me.

I couldn't help it, I laughed until my eyes were watering and my stomach felt like someone had kicked me 4 times in the gut. Once I composed myself I promptly apologized to him. OBVIOUSLY I have made my sweet husband watch "Twilight" about 6 too many times. Man I'm a lucky girl!

Need a Bag?

Do you have some dish towels (clean ones OF COURSE)? Then you should make a bag! I found THIS super cutie pattern on THIS super cutie website. She has such great ideas, I check her website daily for new inspiration.

I actually wasn't really even thinking too much about making this bag until I saw these tea towels at Target one day while I was browsing and I fell in love!

You will have to buy 2 packs of them to have enough to make the bag but they are really cute for carrying around magazines or whatever you like to carry around or you can use them for Green Bags for shopping. Stuff like that. Here is mine...It looks really craptastic in this picture but what can you do? I think I made mine quite a bit longer than hers and I decided I was too lazy to make the little flower that she made but it still gets the job done.

OK now go print off the directions and make one!

Goals Goals Goals

Alrighty...we have a goal. Scot and I have started trying really hard to get back in shape. I have this insane fear of getting old and wrinkly and decrepit and I DO NOT like it. I just want to stay 26 forever. Oh dear did I just admit that I am 26 and that I am about to turn (gasp) 27 in August...I meant 23. I know I know it's stupid! I am afraid of two things OK fine it's more like 200 things but my main one is getting old and the other one is the texture of paper towels tearing off my finger nails (whatever don't ask. I have my weird things and you have yours). Back to the point. We are trying to get in to shape and put that stinking treadmill that we swore we were going to use because it was going to be SOOOO convenient, to good use. This weekend as I was day dreaming as I walked about how muscly my legs were getting (bahahhaahahah) I decided I needed to set a goal...I need to be working toward something or this will never work. I am not brave enough to sign up for a race...yet...so I decided that my goal is to be able to climb this...

...by the end of June. It's hard to find a picture that is good enough to show how hard this might actually be but this is the best I could do. I don't feel like I have ever fully acclimated to the altitude here so if I can I do this it will be a pretty big feat. It might take me all day but I am going to do it! Plus it's kind of exciting because it's illegal to hike the Manitou Incline (there are some really cool pictures on this site under the History section). We're so dangerous, young people do dangerous things...and that's what I am YOUNG...YOUNG FOREVER! OK OK but honestly 70 year old people do it everyday and it's actually a really popular hiking spot around here so the illegality (is that a word?) is sort of a technicality and one of those things that isn't inforced so no worries. Anyway I guess I feel like since I posted it here it's official now. Now we have to do it because all of our bloggy peeps know about it. Wish us luck!

I know, I know

OK so I KNOW I said in the last post that there would be NO MORE projects for a while. Well I lied...sort of. This project kind of went hand in hand with the floors. You know how one project ALWAYS leads in to another? That's what happened here. Our downstairs 1/2 bath was so incredibly BORING! I felt like we needed to do something with it. I really want to personalize this house and make it ours so here is what we came up with...let us know what you think...(The green doesn't look right really in any of these pictures but I think that the first one is the closest to the true color).

Now we just need to get a new mirror and figure out what to put above the Commode :).

The Floors are DONE!!

The floors are officially done and we couldn't be happier with the way they turned out. It was a long, tedious process but it was all worth it in the end! Scot worked so hard to get them done and I feel so lucky to have him! Here are some pictures!

We are going to slowly but surely go stainless steel with our appliances in the kitchen, that's why we have one random stainless dishwasher and the rest is black and white. We will just be a little mismatched for a while. Ha!

Check out those neon, glow in the dark bananas on the counter. That can't be healthy... So happy to have my house back! NO more projects for a while!!

What do you do?

This post is a little late but WHATEVA...

What do you do when your girls weekend is RUINED by snow, your husband is working on your floors, AND it's Conference Weekend?

SEW! (Well I do...did anyway.)

OK so I sewed this little lap top cover inspired by this pattern...I learned that I NEED patterns. I am so not sewing savy enough to make up my own plans. This project turned out OK but I still plan to buy the pattern eventually and make a better one. Totally NOT satisfied!

I also made another one of these as a gift. I love this project. It's so quick and easy and satisfying!
I worked on 2 other projects as well but I don't want to post them until they are done because I have a little bit of OCD like that.

I do want to say that I loved conference. I have so much love and compassion for the leaders of our church. They have so much conviction and love for the gospel and they truly believe what they are telling us, they KNOW it is true. How can that conviction not rub off on you when you watch and listen to their words? How can you not be inspired to go out and be the best person you can be? Anyway I loved it, I was inspired and edified! What more could I ask for?

Also, can I just say that I HEART watching conference at home. There is nothing better than being able to roll out of bed, go downstairs and be spiritually filled in the comfort of your own home, jammies on, with a big plate of waffles. Oh ya!

...and FINALLY I am soooo happy to announce that the floor is finished and I should be able to post pics this weekend! Yahoo!

P.S. Girlies, I am so sad that we had to postpone our girls weekend! I was so looking forward to seeing you all and spending time with you guys! Such a bummer that the snow decided to come THAT exact weekend! Can't wait to reschedule and see you soon! Love you guys!
