Goals Goals Goals

Alrighty...we have a goal. Scot and I have started trying really hard to get back in shape. I have this insane fear of getting old and wrinkly and decrepit and I DO NOT like it. I just want to stay 26 forever. Oh dear did I just admit that I am 26 and that I am about to turn (gasp) 27 in August...I meant 23. I know I know it's stupid! I am afraid of two things OK fine it's more like 200 things but my main one is getting old and the other one is the texture of paper towels tearing off my finger nails (whatever don't ask. I have my weird things and you have yours). Back to the point. We are trying to get in to shape and put that stinking treadmill that we swore we were going to use because it was going to be SOOOO convenient, to good use. This weekend as I was day dreaming as I walked about how muscly my legs were getting (bahahhaahahah) I decided I needed to set a goal...I need to be working toward something or this will never work. I am not brave enough to sign up for a race...yet...so I decided that my goal is to be able to climb this...

...by the end of June. It's hard to find a picture that is good enough to show how hard this might actually be but this is the best I could do. I don't feel like I have ever fully acclimated to the altitude here so if I can I do this it will be a pretty big feat. It might take me all day but I am going to do it! Plus it's kind of exciting because it's illegal to hike the Manitou Incline (there are some really cool pictures on this site under the History section). We're so dangerous, young people do dangerous things...and that's what I am YOUNG...YOUNG FOREVER! OK OK but honestly 70 year old people do it everyday and it's actually a really popular hiking spot around here so the illegality (is that a word?) is sort of a technicality and one of those things that isn't inforced so no worries. Anyway I guess I feel like since I posted it here it's official now. Now we have to do it because all of our bloggy peeps know about it. Wish us luck!

That looks like a really cool hike. It also looks insanely steep!

Wow, that's quite the goal. I have to run a 5K with the young women in June. Right now, I can run about half a K. Not so good...

Way to go Jenny! You're my inspiration. I hope to do a few laps around the neighborhood park daily this summer. Oh how I miss the beauties of Colorado Springs! Enjoy your hike!

That sounds like a good plan. So wait you think your finger nails will rip off like paper towels or you think your finger nails are the texture of paper towels. I'm so confused. That is funny. Good luck, you will be one buff chicka.

Treadmills hold such promise but rarely deliver. Good luck with your goal. I guess this means I have to set one also. Hummmmm...Well I'll think on it. Keep up the good work. And ... what kind of childhood did you have that gave you insecurities about paper towels?
